£400,000 Van Dyck Masterpiece Discovered at Roadshow

A priest in Nottingham bought a restored 17th portrait for £400, thinking it is a fake Van Dyck, but he likes the golden frame. Fiona Bruce, the host of Antique Roadshow spotted this piece and thought it might be a genuine work. After showing it to an expert, and following months of restoration work to remove the recently-added layers of paint, it was confirmed as genuine Van Dyck. It is now the most valuable painting ever discovered on Antique Roadshow for the past 36 years.
