Lost Van Gogh’s Painting Discovered

“Cypress”, a missing painting of Dutch master Vincent Van Gogh was discovered in a bank safe deposit box, during an operation to seize the contents of 542 safety boxes from tax offenders who owed €319 million. “Cypress, Sky, and Country”, translated from Spanish and dated 1889, was on view in the Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna. An investigation was under way into how the painting wound up in the safety deposit box and whether it disappeared as a result of robbery.
