Picasso’s Secret Painting Found

A mystery bow-tied man with his face resting on his hand was found in Picasso’s The Blue Room, one of his first masterpieces. Scientists used advances in infrared imagery to reveal the secret painting, a portrait of an unknown man painted in a vertical composition. The technical analysis confirmed that is was a work Picasso had painted just before The Blue Room. He could not afford to acquire new canvases every time he had an idea that he wanted to pursue. He sometimes worked on cardboard because canvas was so much more expensive.
