Sotheby’s Sold Jane Austen Portraits for £135,000

A rarely seen watercolor portrait of Jane Austen was sold for £135,000 ($230,000) at Sotheby’s. Based on the sketch drawn by the writer’s sister, Austen’s nephew commissioned this watercolor in 1869, 50 years after her death. It is the closest likeness of her.
